In case you didn't hear, Facebook has been using a right-wing media group to attack Tik-Tok surreptitiously. Given the information that's been coming to light over the last few years in regards to Facebook's policies, it's not surprising.
Instead of attacking the competition, why not try to be better than them? Anyone who has tried to run a business on Facebook can tell you how it's becoming more and more frustrating every passing month. The ever changing algorithm blocks you from developing an organic audience. You can have thousands of followers but you'll be lucky if your posts get in front of 70 people without paying for it. But what are you paying for? They do nothing about fake/spam accounts. Why? So they can keep their audience numbers inflated and charge more. Facebook recorded a $30 billion profit in 2020. Yet, as anyone who uses the platform can tell you, provides no actual human customer support for anything. I had a client tell a customer "I'll cut you a deal" on a post and was banned for 24 hours because of it. It was ridiculous, it interfered with his business, and there was absolutely no recourse. Beyond all that, it's become such a negative space. When I do jump on, I do a quick scroll and do my best to never read the comments. It's become a bastion for angry, argumentative people. Unless there are some serious changes to operating procedures, I doubt Facebook will be a real player in social media by 2025.
